Roofing in Memphis
Memphis is home base for LASIM Contractors. Our office is on Winbrook Drive in Whitehaven, a few minutes from the airport, and most of the city is within twenty-five minutes of it: Whitehaven and Parkway Village on the south side, Midtown and the Medical District, East Memphis and the Poplar corridor, Cordova and Hickory Hill to the east, Raleigh and Frayser to the north, and the older neighborhoods around Downtown and South Memphis. We know the housing stock in each of them, because we have been on the roofs.
That stock is mostly brick, and mostly older than people think. The ranches and split-levels in Whitehaven, East Memphis and Raleigh went up in the 1950s through the 1970s; the two-story colonials in Cordova and Hickory Hill mostly date from the 1980s and 1990s; Midtown's bungalows and foursquares are older still. Many of these homes are on their third or fourth roof, and a good number of them have a layer of history under the shingles: old flashing that was reused, decking that was patched rather than replaced, and ventilation that was never designed for a modern insulated attic. That history is what we find when we tear a Memphis roof off, and it is why our estimates price decking and framing repair up front.
The weather is the other constant. Memphis sits in the corridor where spring supercells produce large hail and straight-line wind, and the region's tornado history is well known. Summers bake asphalt shingle at 95 degrees for weeks, and a January ice storm every few years tests every gutter and valley in the city. A roof here works harder than almost anywhere in the country, and the storm season is why so much of our Memphis work is an insurance claim.

What we see on Memphis roofs
The most common finding is a roof at the end of its life that has been repaired past the point of sense: three-tab shingle from the 1990s, granules in the gutters, tabs lifting on the south and west slopes, and a series of tar patches around the pipe boots and the chimney. These are replacements, and on a house with hail or wind damage from a recent storm, they are usually claims.
The second is storm damage on a roof that was otherwise sound: hail bruising that is invisible from the street, wind-lifted shingles on the windward slope, and a fallen limb from one of the city's big oaks. Memphis has an enormous urban tree canopy, and tree damage is a larger share of our emergency calls here than anywhere else in our footprint. Storm damage repair and emergency tarping are a big part of what we do in the city.
The third is the water damage that follows: stained and sagging ceilings, wet attic insulation, and the mold that grows in a Memphis attic that cannot breathe. We are set up to fix the roof and restore the interior under one claim, which matters more in a city where so many homes have a decade of deferred roof work behind them.

Local, and still here after the storm
Our office is in Whitehaven, our reviews are from Memphis addresses, and we will be here when the out-of-state crews that follow every big storm have left.
We know the older stock
Reused flashing, patched decking, unventilated attics. We expect it on a Memphis tear-off and price for it up front.
Claims handled, not just "assisted"
Documentation, adjuster meetings and supplements. We have had a denied Memphis-area roof claim reversed to a full replacement.
Tree damage answered fast
The city's oaks come down in every storm. Emergency tarping and structural repair are part of what we do, not a referral.
Memphis Roofing Questions
Yes. Roof replacement inside the city and in unincorporated Shelby County is permitted and inspected through the Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection as part of the job, and the cost is in the estimate.
Less than the warranty says. A properly installed and ventilated architectural shingle roof realistically gives twenty to twenty-five years here; three-tab and poorly ventilated roofs are often done by fifteen. Hail, summer heat and ice all take their share. Impact-rated shingle and a balanced attic ventilation design are the two things that push the number up.
Call and we will tell you honestly. We are based in Whitehaven, so most of the city is a short drive, and an open roof with water coming in is the call that goes to the front of the line. After a major storm that has hit many homes at once, we work through the calls by severity and run extended hours.
Yes. Midtown's bungalows and older homes have plank decking rather than plywood, steeper pitches, and framing that was built to a different standard. We inspect the structure before quoting, replace plank decking where it is rotted, and install the roof to suit the house. It is more careful work, and we price it honestly.
Yes. LASIM Contractors is the same Memphis business, the same owner, the same crews and the same phone number that operated as Q3 Contractors. Our Google listing and the reviews on it still carry the Q3 name, and you may still see our older yard signs around the city.
Yes, on the low-slope and flat roofs common on small commercial buildings, churches and multi-family properties across the city, as well as on the residential roofs that make up most of our work. Call with the address and the roof type and we will tell you whether it is a fit.
What Mid-South Homeowners Say
Real reviews from our Google listing, quoted word for word. The listing still shows our former name, Q3 Contractors — same owner, same crews, same phone number.
“I can't say enough good things about Q3 Contractors. What started out as a stressful and frustrating situation turned into a smooth, successful project-thanks entirely to their expertise and dedication. Initially, my insurance company denied the claim for my storm-damaged roof, saying it wasn't severe enough to warrant coverage. I felt stuck and unsure of what to do next. That's when Trey of Q3 Contractors stepped in and completely changed the game. They did a thorough inspection, documented all the damage with detailed photos. Their knowledge of roofing and how insurance works was incredible. They knew exactly what to look for and how to present the evidence properly. Because of their efforts, the insurance company reversed their decision and ended up covering the entire roof replacement! The installation itself was just as impressive-professional, timely, and high quality. The crew was respectful, worked quickly, and left everything clean when the job was done. My new roof looks amazing and gives me total peace of mind. If you're dealing with insurance headaches or just want a company that truly goes to bat for you, I highly recommend Q3 Contractors. They went above and beyond for me, and I'm truly grateful.”
