Roofing & Restoration in Cordova, TN
The subdivisions that filled in east Memphis in the 1980s and 1990s are on aging roofs now. We replace, repair and restore them.
Roofing in Cordova
If you are looking for roofing in Cordova, TN, you are looking at one of the fastest-growing parts of Shelby County over the last forty years. Cordova started as a railroad farming village on Macon Road, known for the cut flowers it shipped into Memphis. It stayed small until the subdivisions arrived: two-story brick colonials and family homes spreading out from Germantown Parkway, Trinity Road, Walnut Grove Road and Houston Levee Road through the 1980s and 1990s, and the Wolfchase Galleria retail area opening next door late in that decade. As a roofer in Cordova TN, that history is what we work with every week.
It means a large share of Cordova’s houses were built inside a span of about fifteen years, and their roofs have aged on a similar clock. A house from 1992 that got its second roof around 2010 is coming due again, and the houses that are still on their original builder roof from the late 1990s are overdue. On a street where half the roofs went on in the same few years, the first hailstorm that finishes one usually finishes several. The same storms work through the neighbors too: Bartlett to the north, Germantown across the Wolf River, Collierville to the southeast and the rest of Memphis to the west. Not sure where yours stands? A roof inspection answers it.
Most of Cordova was annexed into the City of Memphis in stages after a long court fight, subdivisions such as Countrywood and Berryhill among them, and a few pieces, such as the Rocky Point area north of Walnut Grove Road, were returned to unincorporated Shelby County in 2021. Either way, roof replacement in the 38016 and 38018 ZIP codes is permitted and inspected through the Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement. We pull that permit as part of the job, so you do not have to work out which side of the line your street is on.

What we find on Cordova roofs
The job we do most in Cordova is a full tear-off on a two-story brick home from the late 1980s or 1990s. Tall walls and steep front gables make these roofs harder to work than a ranch, and they tend to hide the same problems: a second roof nailed over reused step flashing at the garage wall, soft decking at the eaves where gutters backed up for years, and an attic with a ridge vent but too little intake at the soffits. We fix all of it on the way back up, with synthetic underlayment, new flashing and balanced ventilation, and write it into the scope before the work starts. Roof replacement.
The second is spring storm damage. Cordova runs from the Wolf River on its south side to Shelby Farms Park on its western edge, and the hail and straight-line wind that come across the county in March and April reach every subdivision in it. Missing tabs on the windward slope and bruised shingle that looks fine from the yard are the usual finds, and the claim is where they get paid for. Storm damage repair and insurance claim assistance.
The third is water that came in at the gutters, not the shingles. Thirty years of tree growth in the older Cordova neighborhoods means the gutters fill with leaves and seed pods, overflow at the inside corners and soak the fascia and the top of the brick. We replace them with seamless gutters sized for the roof and restore any ceilings or walls the water reached. Gutter installation and repair and water damage restoration.

Cordova Roofing Questions
Both use the same office. Most of Cordova is inside the City of Memphis, and a few areas were de-annexed back to unincorporated Shelby County in 2021, but roof replacement in either is permitted and inspected through the Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement. We file the permit and book the inspection as part of the job.
Very likely. A builder roof from that period has had well over twenty Mid-South summers and several hail seasons. Look for granules collecting in the gutters, curled or cracked shingle on the south and west slopes, and stains on the upstairs ceilings. A free inspection will tell you in writing whether it has a few years left or whether a storm has already made it a claim.
Have the roof inspected before you decide. Houses built in the same years with the same shingle usually take the same damage, but slope direction and tree cover change things from one lot to the next. If we find storm damage, we document it, meet the adjuster on the roof and handle the claim from there. If we do not, you get that in writing and no pressure to file.
On two-story Cordova homes it is usually the step flashing along that wall, often reused from the first roof when the second one went on, or missing the diverter at the bottom that sends water into the gutter. Caulk will not hold it for long. The repair is new step flashing worked in with the shingle, and any wet sheathing or drywall behind it replaced.
For a lot of owners here, yes. Spring hail reaches every part of Cordova, and a Class 4 impact-rated shingle is built to take it without the bruising that ends a standard roof early. Some insurers also give a premium discount for it. We quote it side by side with standard architectural shingle so you can weigh the difference.
Yes. Our office in Whitehaven is about half an hour from Cordova, and we work across the 38016 and 38018 ZIP codes, from the neighborhoods near Shelby Farms Park out past Houston Levee Road. Inspections, repairs, replacements and storm response all run from the same office.
What Mid-South Homeowners Say
Real reviews from our Google listing, quoted word for word. The listing still shows our former name, Q3 Contractors — same owner, same crews, same phone number.
“I can't say enough good things about Q3 Contractors. What started out as a stressful and frustrating situation turned into a smooth, successful project-thanks entirely to their expertise and dedication. Initially, my insurance company denied the claim for my storm-damaged roof, saying it wasn't severe enough to warrant coverage. I felt stuck and unsure of what to do next. That's when Trey of Q3 Contractors stepped in and completely changed the game. They did a thorough inspection, documented all the damage with detailed photos. Their knowledge of roofing and how insurance works was incredible. They knew exactly what to look for and how to present the evidence properly. Because of their efforts, the insurance company reversed their decision and ended up covering the entire roof replacement! The installation itself was just as impressive-professional, timely, and high quality. The crew was respectful, worked quickly, and left everything clean when the job was done. My new roof looks amazing and gives me total peace of mind. If you're dealing with insurance headaches or just want a company that truly goes to bat for you, I highly recommend Q3 Contractors. They went above and beyond for me, and I'm truly grateful.”
